Very impressive piece of Indigenous Art
Raven Spirit Canoe with 6 little travelers or Paddler's: Raven, Human, Eagle, Human, Komokwa and Wolf by Kwakiulth Artist Jimmy Joseph
Very rich and detailed carving - Lots of love went into this piece, Jimmy paid so much attention to details. Each little paddler does have a fully hand carved and hand painted paddle while the wolf does have two paddles, sitting at the back of the boat. Each character can be placed in order as you like. They are sitting on little "benches" and can be taken out and moved around easy.
Each has articulated arms and is unique and rich in expression, powerful and adorable at the same time. Looks like they are clearly on a mission. Very rich painting in traditional colors, easy recognizable as Jimmy's artwork., fully hand carved out of a solid piece of red cedar. The canoe is sitting on a handmade gorgeous cedar base.
Measurements: Total length: 4 ft (!!!)/48", total height 12", 4 1/2" wide. The base itself is 36" x 5 1/2"
What a beautiful piece. This will clearly impress on top of your fireplace mantle - or at the entrance, or... well, just an marvelous centerpiece.
