Another nice piece, and as always, guaranteed authentic Indigenous Art:
HERON, graceful patience, on SALMON base by Indigenous artist Charles George St., a member of the Heiltsuk First Nations from Bella Bella.
Showing the Heron, patiently waiting. The details are really nice, the heron is hand carved and hand painted on both sides, even the base which is depicting the salmon is so detailed. Both pieces, the heron and the salmon are carved with lots of attention to details. The body of the heron shows the whale and the rafven. Signed underneath the base. Brown stain applied.
Measurements: 22" tall, 5" wide, 1" deep, the salmon base is 13" x 6" x 1"
Meaning: In the native culture of the Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations, the Heron is known to be a “lucky charm” for successful fishing. He is a symbol of grace, elegance, patience and good luck. At the same time Heron’s are known to be loner and in some tribes are associated with weakness for flattery and vanity
