Have a close look at this piece - it's so incredibly detailed, you won't see everything at the first glance...
Wren (spectator bird) with Raven on top and Hummingbird in back - RATTLE (listen to the video...) by Jimmy Joseph, a master carver and member of the Kwakiulth First Nations, originating from Alert Bay, a little island on BC's Northwest Coast
This rattle is truly unbelievably intricate - so many details, Jimmy truly goes all the way and always shows his love for this art. No other artist is working like him and as he told me, during the time he was working with his dad, his dad told him that he needs to find his own style so that a signature isn't needed. Everybody will recognize it. And so he did!
But, he still signed it so for every collector out there, the authenticity is guaranteed as in every piece we are representing.
The Rattle's head is depicting the Wren (Spectator) Bird while on top of it it shows the Raven with wings on each side. The handle is showing the Chief and the Raven, beautifully carved on all sides. The back of the Wren's head has a detailed butterfly.
All fully hand carved, fully hand painted, decorated with cedar bark and standing on a nice, also hand carved wooden base. Fabulous!
Measurements: 25 1/2" tall x 6 1/2" x 5 1/2", the base is 7" x 7"
Note: USD amounts estimated based on Bank of Canada average exchange rate, updated weekly, Invoice in CAD, overseas shipping costs $165 CAD added at check-out
