VERY impressive, huge, authentic, fully hand carved SALMON by Nootka Master artist Brian Bob.
Richly inlaid with Abalone, beautiful clean piece of Sitka Spruce. Precise carving, gorgeous flow, superb craftsmanship!! The body of the salmon is inlaid with 26 pieces (!!!) of Abalone (Mother of pearl). This piece is so elegant. Showing beautiful natural grain of the wood, a very impressive piece of true Indigenous art. Signed at the back, made and prepared for wall hanging.
Measurements: 50" x 15" x 2"
Meaning: The Salmon symbolizes prosperity, renewal and fertility. They are one of the most important and highest respected animals of all since they have been the primary food source from the beginning of time to the Northwest Coast First Nations.
