A great piece by a highly talented artist:

Red cedar Baby Owl mask

guaranteed authentic and direct from Kwakiutl First Nation, Indigenous artist Rey Dickie, originating Vancouver Island, Canada’s Pacific Northwest coast, British Columbia

Please have a close look, beautiful piece of Indigenous art, traditional yet bold colors used, still showing the beautiful old red cedar. Deep carving lines, I’m providing close-ups, hopefully you can see the depth of the carving. The expression is just fabulous. The face of the owl is adorned and decorated with the traditional cedar bark. The mask is signed at the back, made and prepared for wall hanging, hanger already attached. Please also have a look at the back of the mask - even the back is beautifully finished, knife marks visible, lots of work was put into this little piece of art.

Measurements: Total height incl. cedar bark: 16", the mask itself is approx. 9" x 8 1/2" x 7"

Meaning: Owls are associated with the souls of ancestors and are viewed with high respect. They symbolize wisdom, intuition and prophecies and sacred knowledge. The story goes that children have to be kept inside at night and are told not to cry too much because otherwise the owl may carry them away. Sometimes owls are said to carry messages from the beyond or deliver supernatural warnings to people.
