Another fabulous piece of true Indigenous art just arrived in our Gallery:
Pacific Red Rock Fish
by Shane Flood Baker, a member of the Coast Salish First Nation (Squamish Tribe), Vancouver Island, Canada's Pacific Northwest Coast of British Columbia.
Part of Shane's Fish-series, he loves fishing and is highly knowledgeable. This piece of art clearly shows superb quality and is definitely one of a kind. Shane applied multiple layers of painting, clean carving lines as always, close to perfection, very vibrant colors and simply stunningly beautiful.
The Pacific Red Rock Fish can be found from Baja California to the Bering Sea in Alaska. It has a life span of over 100 years, grow really slowly and reach full maturity late in life. They are the most important year round source of ground fish on the West Coast, usually caught with traditional hook and line.
