Fantastic piece of North American art - finest quality, from Indigenous artist Brian Bob, a member of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, living on Vancouver Island. A new masterpiece to show off in our native art gallery:
39" (!!!)
EAGLE depicting Raven spirit and Salmon egg in its body
This hand carved wall art carving is inlaid with 5 pieces of Abalone, painted in powerful blue. If you ever look at a real Raven closely, you can see that they do have a shiny blue tone in their feathers, visible depending how the sunlight is shining on it. That's why Brian chose this color. Most images are taken in sunlight, one is taken indoors. Have a look.
Superb carving quality, very deep, very clean lines. Brian used Sitka Spruce as always. Please have a close look at the details and the depth in this piece. It's 2" thick. The Salmon egg is depicting since salmon are extremely important as a food source, then there is the Raven, depicted since the Raven brought the light and is also a very important part of Nature and Indigenous History.
The color really accentuates the natural grain of the wood, just fabulous. Signed at the back with his carved "B", made and prepared for wall hanging
Measurements: 39" x 11" x 2"
Meaning: Eagles mate for life and are therefore also seen as a symbol of lasting love and dedication. It is told that the Eagle end their own life in despair when the mate is lost. Eagle feathers are used in the most important ceremonies, a display of respect, courage, Chieftainship and wisdom.
