DANCING AND HAPPY OWL
by Indigenous artist Bear (Doug) Horn from the Tsawout (Coast Salish) Nation on Vancouver Island
This sculpture is so masterfully carved out of one solid piece of bass wood - yes, the base is not mounted - it's ONE piece! The wings are attached - It's the first and only Owl he ever made. New design !!! And it's just fabulous.
Such a superb craftsmanship and so much talent
You can really see the OWL dancing - having a great time, definitely happy - just wonderful
The carving is deep and clean, the oil accentuated the natural grain of the wood, no paint needed - simple, elegant - a masterpiece!
Measurements: 14" tall, 13 1/2" wingspan, 4" deep
Meaning: The Owl is associated with the souls of ancestors and are viewed with high respect. They symbolize wisdom, intuition, prophecies and sacred knowledge.
