Hand carved Bear Chief Warrior, cedar, on base
What a wonderful piece. Fully hand carved, please check out all the details in this piece, they are quite incredible. The carving and expressions, marvelous. Clean painting, still showing the beautiful cedar. It's carved on one side, signature at the back. So much love and many hours of work went into this piece.
Measurements: 24" x 5 1/2", base is 6" x 3 1/2"
Meaning: The Bear is a symbol for power, courage, physical strength and leadership. Warriors e.g. are known to wear bear claw necklaces which meant protection. In Haida culture the Bear is referred to as "Elder Kinsman" and was treated like a high-ranking guest.
