Beautiful little piece of true and authentic Indigenous art, direct from artist:
Hok-Hok Mask
by Randy Stiglitz, a member of the Coast Salish Nation, very well-known and highly sought after Indigenous artist. Randy is working together with his partner Janice Morin from the Cree Nation - both are highly accomplished and very talented artists - and if you look at the mask closely, you can tell.
It's a gorgeous Hok-Hok Model Mask, articulated, very detailed, superb carving, they both spent so much time on it. The mask is adorned with cedar bark rope; the skirt is also made of cedar bark. It comes with a beautiful cedar stand but can also be hung up on the wall. Either way, it will look fabulous.
Measurements: Total height: 22" x 18" x 6" (incl. cedar bark), head itself is 17" x 5" x 5"
Meaning: The Hamatsa Ceremony (Cannibal Dance Ceremony) plays a very important part in the history and legends of the Indigenous nations from the Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations. There are three birds part of the Hamatsa Dance. One is the Crooked Beak, the second is the Hok-Hok Bird and the third part are the Hamatsa Ravens.
