So elegant - beautiful pieces of Indigenous art from the North American First Nations

Graceful Patience and Love: Pair of Heron's standing on a salmon base, hand carved all around by very talented and well accomplished artist Charles George Sr., a member of the Heiltsuk Nations from Bella Bella. Charles really loves his herons. This beautiful pair is one of his taller pieces. Really nice !!

How adorable!!! The expression is so powerful and simply beautiful, Charles put so much work and love into this piece, it's his own and his favourite design to carve. 

The Heron's can be moved around into different positions - Facing each other (showing a heart form) or beside each other - so beautiful! Each Heron shows the Raven and the Orca Killer Whale in the body. Each is fully hand carved on BOTH sides!! The details are really fabulous, the herons are carved in clean lines, stained, painted and polished.

Even the very large salmon base salmon is so detailed. Signed underneath the base.

Measurements: 24" tall, 5" wide, 1" thick each, the salmon base is 13" x 6"  

Meaning: In the native culture of the Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations, the Heron is known to be a “lucky charm” for successful fishing. He is a symbol of grace, elegance, patience and good luck. At the same time Heron’s are known to be loner and in some tribes are associated with weakness for flattery and vanity
