Excerpts from Bill Reid's writings... "Solitary Raven": Bill Reid: "Willie Seaweed or Sewid (Hitamas, Kwaxitola, c. 1873–1967) was a Nakwoktak headman, carver and storyteller, born in the village of Tigwaxsti (Kequesta) in Nuget Sound. He lived most of his live in the village of Paas in Blunden Harbour. Bill Holm has published two fine studies of his work. His surname anglicized to "Seaweed" is actually derived from the Kwakwala verb sixw'id... to paddle"
