Tsoona Stella was born in 1937 to Haida/Tlingit parents, in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Tsoona's boyhood dream was to be a Native carver. At the feet of his elders, he learned to carve and design. In the great longhouses, he heard the songs and saw the dances of his people and grew to understand the beauties and subtleties of his Native tradition. He studied wherever and whenever the opportunity arose. He slowly but surely gained mastery over the materials with which he worked. Tsoona has achieved his ambition. His wood carvings are each unique creations connected by one common aspect; his direct perspective of nature and beauty.'
