PRINCESS OF MOON WHO LOVES HER KILLER WHALE CHIEF by master artist Rupert Jeffrey.

Have a look at this Beauty! Highest Quality Craftsmanship!! Solid yellow cedar, such a beautiful piece, so clean, so detailed, wonderful! The carving is truly incredible. Rupert started with a solid 6” thick piece of old growth cedar and slowly and carefully carved the moon out of it. Even the whale chief that’s sitting in its mouth is carved out of the wood, not inserted, not mounted, and not glued – it’s ONE PIECE!

Rupert Jeffrey: “This mask is the water protector of the Skeena misty river, old growth cedar, the face has the killer whale design with the water flowing over the back and top of the face engraved to enhance the moons cycle. The circles represent the new moons this year. The mouth is the wisest chief of the chiefs of the Skeena River. He is the princess’s love. He’s her protector and provider of continuing cycles of earth and moon. Together, they are life, life for the river, life for the species in the air, land and water. This is symbol of continuous flows of love and abundance”

The painting is so vibrant; the Whale design with the face on the right and the tail on the left side of the moon is clean and powerful. The expression is beautiful, the eyes are mesmerizing. Just a very unique and high quality piece of Indigenous Art. On the upper right side of the rim, you can see the carved R and J – Rupert’s initials, but he also signed it in full at the back.

Rupert used 5 (!) coats of Danish oil and 6 (!) coats of bees wax finish for the polish. The moon is prepared for wall hanging.

Measurements: 21” tall, 18” wide, approx. 6” deep
