Beautiful large and massive EAGLE carving
High quality carving! Painted, stained and polished to accentuate the natural grain of the wood. Deep cuts by the Indigenous Artist Gino (Eugene) Seward from the Kwakiutl nation (Kwakwaka'wakw). Great presence and expression. Carved in front, made and prepared for wall hanging, signed at the back. Also looks great standing on the fireplace mantle....
Measurements: 16" x 8" x 2"
Meaning: Eagles mate for life and are therefore also seen as a symbol of lasting love and dedication. It is told that the Eagle end their own life in despair when the mate is lost. Eagle feathers are used in the most important ceremonies, a display of respect, courage, Chieftainship and wisdom.
