Vintage, authentic and fascinating

Komokwa - Chief of the Undersea Kingdom Mask - hand carved by First Nations artist Jack James who was born 1915 on Gilford Island, a member of the Kwakwakaw'wakw First Nation. After some studying and researching, it has been confirmed by some elder's of the First Nations, that this piece infact is showing the Komokwa - as it is shown in many of the old, traditional designs. 

The piece was given to a family in Alert Bay and is on the market for the first time. The mask is in excellent condition, shows beauitful patina, no damages, no cracks. Signed at the back. Dated 1964!!! - 

Measurements: 13" x 12" x 5" (33 x 30.5 x 13 cm)
