Ghost Mask

by artist Gilbert Dawson from Alert Bay, Canada's Pacific Northwest Coast. 

It's 18" tall and 15" wide, 8" deep, so it's really large. I'm not sure if the size comes across in the images, I tried to capture it. But it's absolutely fabulous. The expression is truly mesmerizing, the painting on this mask is powerful, very clean, close to perfect. Vibrant blue (almost turquoise) and red on black, with black hair (synthetic) adorning the face. Gilbert signed the mask on the back, dated 2017. Fabulous condition. Pretty heavy. Just really beautiful. It makes every room and is a great piece to add to every native art collection. The eyes are just masterfully done, they really capture the soul and the spirit.
