Very large and very impressive piece of Indigenous by our late friend and First Nations artist Harry T. Williams, a member of the Nootka (Huu-ay-aht).
Huge Dogfish Mask
you don't find these often - have a look at the expression, very intense and powerful. Masterfully carved by Harry who really always paid so much attention to details. This is a solid piece of red cedar. The colors Harry used are traditional and the piece is very easy recognizable as one of his pieces. It's dated 2013. Please see the depth of the carving lines, just done by a very experienced artist. Harry sadly passed away in 2020 and is missed by so many. His pieces of art are highly collectable and sought after. It was an honor to know him and to call him our friend.
Measurements: 21" tall, 13" wide and 7" deep.
Signed at the back. The mask is prepared for wall hanging and in excellent condition.
