Large Sun RATTLE by Kwakiulth First Nation artist Jimmy Joseph, originating from Alert Bay, a little island on BC's Northwest Coast

SUN, with Raven on each ray, on back and front, doublesided carving, inlaid with abalone, Butterfly carving at the back of the sun. Beautiful and strong sound - I'm enclosing a video, please have a look....it's fun! The handle is showing a totem, carved all around, showing human above raven, then the base, also fully carved. Everything hand painted, nothing machine made. 

This rattle is truly unbelievably intricate - so many details, Jimmy truly goes all the way and always shows his love for this art. No other artist is working like him and as he told me, during the time he was working with his dad, his dad told him that he needs to find his own style so that a signature isn't needed. Everybody will recognize it. And so he did!

But, he still signed it so for every collector out there, the authenticity is guaranteed as in every piece we are representing. All fully hand carved, fully hand painted, decorated with cedar bark and standing on a nice, also hand carved wooden base. Fabulous!

Measurements: 28" tall, 19" wide, the base is 7" x 7"
