LARGE (!) White Raven or Spirit Raven, on natural stand by Quinn James
Quinn is a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw First Nations, son of well known artist Simon D. James, originating from the Comox Valley on British Columbia's Pacific Northwest Coast. He used cedar for this mask and decorated it beautifully with lots of white horse tail. Absolutely stunning. The head of the raven is covered in white feathers, the beak is articulated and makes an incredible clapping sound.
And then look at the eyes - copper with abalone inside. Fully hand painted in clean lines, the very soft rose and yellow color added to the white just brings so much elegance to the piece. Quinn sanded it to perfection, just superb quality all around. The stand is made from solid cedar - marvelous - have a look...
Measurements: total height 27", raven itself is 27" x 7 1/2" x 7"
Meeting Quinn just confirmed that he is a very friendly and kind soul, it's truly a pleasure to listen to the stories and to understand all the love and work he put's into his artwork. His career is just starting and we can't wait to see more.
