Fabulous red cedar PADDLE, showing the Killer Whale by Indigenous artist Sarah Daniels (nee Robertson), a member of the Kwakiutl Nation, originating from Kingcome Inlet, British Columbia's Pacific Northwest Coast.

Hand carved and hand painted. The carving is simply fabulous, clearly done by an artist who loves her art. Every time I meet Sarah, she is surprising me with new designs and new ideas - just so incredible. Also, you can clearly see her experience - the lines are getting cleaner and cleaner, the painting is close to perfection and she clearly has a fabulous eye for design while keeping tradition and history in mind.

Hand painted in simple black and red. Carved on one side, signed at the back. Abalone sheets added throughout.

Measurements: 49" x 5 1/2" x 1"

Meaning: The killer whale is a symbol for romance and harmony as Whales mate for life. The Whale is very family oriented and known to travel in large groups, never to be alone. They symbolize great luck and happiness, community and protection. They are a known to always be working together, take care of each other and to always help and protect each other.
