Red cedar Baby BEAR Mask

by Kwakiutl First Nation artist Rey Dickie from Vancouver Island, British Colmbia's Northwest Coast

This piece of art proves beautiful craftsmanship, so detailed and the expression is just so cute and adorable. Little piece but a real Gem. The face is adorned with cedar bark,  the lines are very clean and deep, beautifully painted in traditional colors. the mask itself is adorned with lots of cedar bark. 

Measurements: 8" x 6" x 5" 

Meaning: The Bear is a symbol for power, courage, physical strength and leadership. Warrior's e.g. are known to wear bear claw necklaces which meant protection. In Haida culture the Bear is referred to as "Elder Kinsman" and was treated like a high ranking guest.
