Stunning piece of Indigenous art, very powerful!
Portrait mask with double Raven design by Coast Salish Indigenous artist Randy Stiglitz who works together with his wife Janice Morin (Cree Nation)
The Raven is decorated with lots of cedar bark as well as black horse hair. It's also inlaid with pieces of copper. The painting is as usual just close to perfection, very powerful.
The carving and the expression of the trickster double Raven design is marvelous. This is superb quality. The mask is prepared for wall hanging. Signed by both on the inside, dated 2024. Randy carved, Janice painted. Randy's biography is below, please also check out Janice's biography, it's provided under the "artist" tab. What a fabulous team!!!
Measurements: Total height 28", Mask itself is 12" x 13" x 5"
Meaning: The Raven is known to be the transformer, trickster and creator. In the Kwakwaka'wakw culture the Raven is known as the messenger of the sky and famous for being a somewhat mischievous glutton. He's always out to please himself and to have a good time. He's very adventurous.
