Raven awakens the Light, by Randy Stiglitz and Janice Morin

Another incredible powerful piece of Indigenous art

Raven crowned Portrait Mask - Raven awakens the light

designed, hand carved alder, hand painted by master artists Randy Stiglitz from the Coast Salish, Sechelt Native Band and his partner Janice Morin from the Cree Nation. As always, you can clearly see the artist's experience and talent in this gorgeous piece of art. So very detailed!!!! The Raven crown on top is carved intricate and beautiful. Open beak, the body of the Raven is hand painted, adorning the Mask's face. Very clean painting, beautiful design.

The face of the mask is also decorated with copper and is adorned with the traditional cedar bark rope. Beautiful white horsehair is added - fabulous. Just everything you could be looking for in an authentic piece from the Indigenous Nations of the Pacific Northwest Coast of Canada.

Signed on the inside by both artists.

Measurements: 17" x 11" x 9"

Meaning: The Raven is known to be the transformer, trickster and creator. In the Kwakwaka'wakw culture the Raven is known as the messenger of the sky and famous for being a somewhat mischievous glutton. He's always out to please himself and to have a good time. He's very adventurous.

Legend: Known in legends the raven is the one who released the sun, moon, and stars; discovered man in a clamshell; brought the salmon and the water; and taught man how to fish and hunt.
