These kinds of rattles are only used in special ceremonies by the Haida Nation peoples. It has a soft rattle sound and when you blow it, it sounds like the wind. Please have a close listen to the video I'm providing. Even though it was very loud on the beach with the waves crashing in, you can hear the whistle, the call of the wind. Very intricate carving, he truly put so much work into this one. He is so incredibly talented. The craftsmanship is exceptional.
Beautiful wolf carving, so detailed, stained and polished. The base is also fully carved, depicting a frog. Donavon truly is a perfectionist, please have a close look at the images to appreciate it.
Measurements: 13" tall, 4" wide, 1" thick, frog base is 4 1/2" x 3"
Meaning: The Wolf represents loyalty, strong family ties, good communication, education, understanding and intelligence. Of all land animals, the Wolf has the strongest supernatural powers and is the most accomplished hunter. The Wolf is a very social and communicative creature; he uses body movement, touch and sound.
