TALKINGSTICK by Harvey and Josie Williams, from the Nuuh-chah-nulth (Nootka) First Nation
dated 1985
This is a large piece - just think about all the hours the artists spent on the carving of this piece of cedar wood. It shows the Thunderbird with the whale spirit above the Bear holding a human, above a frog which is above the mosquito and another frog - and finally showing a wolf at the end above yet another frog - stunning!
The condition is excellent considering the age, it shows very minor signs of gentle handling and aging - just as expected.
Measurements: 54" x 2½" x 3" ( 137 x 6.5 x 7.5 cm), wingspan 12” (31 cm)
