What an incredible piece just arrived in our Gallery. It was many many months in the making and the result is stunning:
Thunderbird, Killer Whale, Salmon and Bear
fully hand carved, hand painted, designed and signed by Squamish First Nation artist Shane Flood Baker.
The craftsmanschip is so incredible. It is so delicately carved, knife finished (please have a close look at the images, it clearly shows all the work and each mark of the knife Shane was putting into it). The gorgeous yellow of the cedar is shown and just brings so much beauty to the piece.
The colors Shane chose are traditional, rich and very powerful. The expression in each piece is incredible while the combination of them truly turns it into a masterpiece of true Indigenous Art.
Shane signed the piece at the back, it's made and prepared for wall hanging. Since he carved it so thin and since wood is alive, Shane stabilized the thinnest parts of the art at the back, just to be safe.
Due to size and the fragile nature of this piece, we can not offer Free shipping but are asking for a fraction ($170 CAD) of the actual costs.
Measurements: 62" tall, 18" wide, between 1/4"-1/2" thick
