MOON MASK
just arrived. A real masterpiece!!
Title: Twin Wolves design - Balance
by Indigenous artist Kolten Khasalus Grant (Khasalus means "Walking tall") from the Dzawada'enuxw, Kwakiulth, Squamish and St'a'mic Nation .... and it was worth the wait.
Kolten spent so many weeks and hours on this piece of art, proves superb craftsmanship and a fabulous eye on design. It's elegant, traditional and simply highest quality! Guaranteed authentic, hand carved, hand painted - gorgeous piece of yellow cedar. The moon's face is surrounded by wolves, the face showing the eclipse. Kolten did mix his own colors, the light gray, combined with the black and dark gray, just marvelous. The whole mask is "domed" and hand carved out of ONE piece of wood, not mounted on top. Even the back is finished in detail, showing the knife marks - and of course Kolten signed it at the back. It's prepared for wall hanging. Light makes a difference, the cedar's yellow comes out with direct light, with out it, the wood's colour appears softer. Please have a look and enjoy.
Measurements: 20" diameter, approx. 4" deep
Meaning: The Moon is associated with transformation since it controls the tides and illuminates the dark. It is seen as a guardian spirit.
Note: USD amounts estimated based on Bank of Canada average exchange rate, updated weekly, Invoice in CAD, overseas shipping costs $245 CAD added at check-out
