Brad Joseph Jr. - a very talented Indigenous artist just brought us another new piece of art.
He just brought us this gorgeous, hand carved piece of art:
Grizzly Bear Chief on wooden base - red cedar
What a wonderful piece. Fully hand carved, please check out the Chief's face, the carving and expression is marvelous. Vibrant and clean painting. The green, black, red and white just looks fabulous on this beautiful red cedar. Chief is wearing the bear on body and as crown. Chief looks very proud and powerful. It's carved on one side, signature at the back. So much love and many hours of work went into this piece.
Measurements: 23" x 6" x 1/2", Base is 7" x 3 1/2"
Meaning: The Bear is a symbol for power, courage, physical strength and leadership. Warriors e.g. are known to wear bear claw necklaces which meant protection. In Haida culture the Bear is referred to as "Elder Kinsman" and was treated like a high-ranking guest.
